2007 DEER SEASON

MassWildlife
breaks the 2007 Deer Season into 3 categories:
1. Archery
2. Shotgun (Shotgun, Muzzleloader and Archery)
3. Primitive Firearm (Muzzleloader and Archery )
- Massachusetts strictly states that
hunters cannot attempt to harvest deer unless they are at least 500
feet from the nearest occupied dwelling without proper authorization.
- In addition, they must also be at least
150 feet from any public road or highway.
- Hunting hours are from ½ hour before
sunrise to ½ hour after sunset.
Because of the recent overpopulation
of deer in our area, MassWildlife also has allowed hunters to not only
take 2 bucks (mature male deer), but have made available significant numbers
of antlerless deer (female or adolescent male deer with antlers of 3"
or less) permits.
This essentially allows hunters to take
a large number of deer per season as long as they do not take more than
2 deer per day and have tags or permits to do so.
- The Archery Season begins on October
15, 2007 and runs through November 24, 2007.
- The Shotgun Season begins on November
26, 2007 and runs through December 8, 2007.
- The Muzzleloader Season begins on December
10, 2007 and runs through December 31, 2007.
- Hunting on Sundays is not permitted.
